Parish Committees

St. Stanislaus Parish is an active, vital parish. Many groups (i.e. choir) and organizations (i.e. Catholic Daughters, St. Mary’s League, Cursillo) are currently working within the parish to contribute to the social, educational and spiritual needs of the parish members. In particular, parish committees provide member based leadership to assist parish staff with key activities and decisions. Committees generally meet monthly or quarterly, as needed, and report to the Pastoral Council.

Pastoral Council: Currently led by Pat Shannon, the Pastoral Council works with and assists parish staff to oversee active committees and the Deanery and Diocesan Council representatives. This group does establish independent goals and works on needs of the parish that are not otherwise being coordinated by other committees.

Liturgy Committee: Currently led by Vicki Clifford and Donna Ernster, the Liturgy Committee’s mission is to help the parish celebrate the Public Worship of the Church and provide the environment in which it will be celebrated. This group also coordinates the Lector, Eucharist Minister and Server schedule.

Parish Life: Currently led by Betty Riebe, the Parish Life Committee’s mission is to help promote the community life of St. Stanislaus Parish. Several key events throughout each calendar year are coordinated by this group including the Community Christmas Dinner, The Harvest Dinner, the Spring Crab Feed and various receptions and other celebrations (see Major Event list).

Plant Management: Currently led by Ralph Vollbrecht, Bob Mini, and Jim White, the Plant Management Committee’s mission is to be the stewards of the physical plant of the parish to ensure its longevity. This group monitors the current and future needs of the parish including remodeling, cleaning, repairing and replacement.

Religious Education: Currently led by Heidi Munoz, the mission of the Committee on Religious Education is to foster the growth of each elementary school age member of the parish community. This is the committee that helps to provide education and encouragement to the children in the parish including Children’s Liturgy during the 9:30 Mass, sacramental preparation for 1st Communion and 1st Reconciliation, etc.

Finance Committee: The mission of the Finance Committee is to oversee the finances to ensure that the material and spiritual needs of the parish are adequately funded. This group monitors the parish finances, reviews and approved the budget and projects future expenses.

Social Concerns: Currently led by Ellen DeKan, the mission of the Social Concerns Committee is to help members of the St. Stanislaus Parish Community in their efforts to expand their own commitments to an active life of justice and compassion. By assessing the needs of the parish and the greater community, matching needs with resources, and coordinating education, the committee helps provide opportunities to serve based on Catholic foundations of social justice and concern. This group has been actively establishing an integrated committee with the other Catholic Parishes of Lewiston in order to reduce duplication of effort and increase action and awareness.

Spiritual Life: Currently led by Ralph Smith, the mission of the Spiritual Life Committee is to provide faith enriching adult education opportunities, including small faith sharing groups, as well as being the liaison for active ministry groups within the parish for the purpose of communication, understanding and outreach. This group coordinates the Monthly Adult Enrichment Speaker Series and a monthly bulletin.

Tri-Parish Youth Council: The mission of the Tri-Parish Youth Board is to oversee the total youth ministry of grades seven through twelve for St. James, Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Stanislaus. Under the direction of Jaymee Dever, the Tri-Parish Youth gather for faith development, religious education, Confirmation preparation, social and community activities.

Young Adult Ministry: Established in April, 2002, this area is led by Sister Deanna Von Bargen. The goal of the Young Adult ministry is to work with young adults ages 18-35 including singles, young marrieds, college students, etc. in order to facilitate faith enrichment, community and social opportunities and activities.
